Clayton High School has close to 900 students and ranks as one of the best high schools in all of Missouri.

Students ranked in the top 1% of other Missouri schools in both math and reading. Their scores put students at the top 1% in math and top 5% in reading proficiency.

78% of students are proficient in math, while 80% of students are proficient in reading. The student-to-teacher ratio is an impressive 11 to 1, which is very good for a large high school.

Wydown Middle School 

Wydown is ranked as the best middle school in Missouri. With almost 700 students in grades 6 to 8, they have an impressive 11 to 1 student-to-teacher ratio.

Students are scoring consistently across academic areas. 71% of students were proficient in math, while 72% were proficient in reading at Wydown Middle School.

Reed Elementary School

Reed Elementary School services just over 400 students in grades kindergarten through 4th grade.

These young learners scored in the top 5% of all test scores in Missouri. They scored in the top 5% for math and the top 5% for reading proficiency.

Of their student body, 70 to 74% scored proficient in math, while 80 to 84% were proficient in reading and language arts. These scores are significantly higher than the state average.

Reed Elementary School has a student-to-teacher ratio of 13 to 1.

Meramec Elementary School

Meramec Elementary is another high-scoring school. It serves around 350 students in grades kindergarten through 5th grade.

77% of students in this building are scoring proficient in math, while 82% are proficient in reading.

There is an impressive student-to-teacher ratio of 11 to 1.

Mckinley Class. Leadership Academy

This charter school has close to 600 students in grades 6 through 12. The students in this school scored in the top 5% of all schools in Missouri.

73% of students were proficient in math compared to the state-wide average of 42%. While in reading and language arts, 84% were proficient compared to the state average of 49%.

Student to teacher ratios are at 14 to 1. Mckinley Class also has a minority population of 59% compared to the state average.

John Burroughs School

John Burroughs School is a private school with students in grades 7 to 12. This school offers a broad curriculum with a focus on:

  • STEM
  • The arts
  • Athletics
  • Health and wellness
  • Global awareness and cultural competency
  • Service and sustainability

This private school is rated as the best private school in Missouri, the best high school for STEM, and the best private college preparatory high school.

In fact, in 2021 Johns Burroughs had 28 seniors qualify as National Merit Semi-Finalists.
