St. Charles County sales rose 9 percent, to 2,275. Jefferson County sales were up 14 percent, to 1,290. The only decline was in the city, where sales dipped 1 percent, to 1,181 houses.

The article also stated that counties in the St. Louis, Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland and Philadelphia metro areas are among the 25 most affordable U.S. markets determined by the percentage of wages needed to buy a median-priced house, according to a new report by RealtyTrac, a housing data firm.
